On Tuesday 25 June 2024 Stratford District Council (SDC) adopted the fees and charges schedule for 2024/25, which includes changes to user fees for Wai o Rua – Stratford Aquatic Centre.
The proposed changes to fees and charges were consulted on as part of SDC’s draft Long Term Plan 2024-34 during April, except for two new amendments which have been made in response to submissions received as part of the LTP process.
Some of the new fees and charges approved by SDC are listed below:
Casual entry fees
- Increase in casual entry fees by $1. Adult entry is now $6, child/senior is now $5 and a Family pass is now $16.
- Group fitness casual entry fees have increased by $1 for adults to $10 per session, and by 50c for children/seniors to $8 per session.
Concession cards (valid for 12 months)
- Adult concession cards for pool entry are now $54 for 10 sessions, $130 for 25 sessions, $250 for 50 sessions
- Child/Senior concession cards for pool entry are now $45 for 10 sessions, $107.50 for 25 sessions, $205 for 50 sessions
- Adult concession cards for group fitness are now $90 for 10 sessions, $220 for 25 sessions, $430 for 50 sessions
- Child/Senior concession cards for group fitness are now $72 for 10 sessions, $175 for 25 sessions, $340 for 50 sessions
For users with sessions left on their pool entry and group fitness concession cards, those will remain as normal until you use them all. When you need to purchase more concessions you’ll be charged the new fee structure for 2024/25.
Wai o Rua – Stratford Aquatic Centre Swim School
- Fees now include pool entry fee at $145 per term.
- This allows for one transaction rather than two when booking family members into the swim school.
- Payment can be made via a weekly direct debit. Talk to the team for details on how to set this up.
For Swim School users with concession cards for lessons, any remaining lesson entries on your card can be refunded from 1 July 2024, or used for casual entry to our facility until the concessions run out. All Term 3 enrolments will be required to start a new Swim School card for lessons under the 2024/25 Fees and Charges

Private hire
- The full facility private hire now includes the use of the multipurpose rooms. There has been no change in fees for this hire.
- Aquabike private hire fee introduced at $15 per hour
School groups
- Increase of $1 per student for pool entry for school bookings, now $2.50 per student.
- New fee introduced for school groups booking for swimming sports activity, at $4 per student. This is available to schools once a year at a maximum of 4 hours and includes lane hire.
Shower use
- A fee of $5 for using the shower facilities only.
Swim Club High Use Entry
- A small increase in entry fees per week for swim club members to align with the increase in casual entry fees for non-club members.
- Swim club members visiting frequently will be charged $8 for 2 entries per week, $11.25 for 3 entries per week and $14 for 4 plus entries per week.
These fees and charges will come into effect on Monday 1 July 2024.
